The real action starts today at Le Mans but Darren spent most of yesterday on track in an Aston Martin DB9, filming with the Le Mans 3D movie makers.
“We spent around three hours filming at the various corners before stopping off at Tetre Rouge to talk about Allan Simonsen and the events of two years ago. It’s hard to believe it was already so long ago. We took a bit longer than planned so I was late for the official autograph session. I think I made up for it though by signing hundreds of autographs. The fans at Le Mans are great as they really know their subject so it’s always a pleasure to chat to them.”
Attention turns to racing today and Darren has already been for the first AMR technical meeting where the plan is set for the day. During the first session each of the three #97 drivers will drive the car in the chosen set-up. If they all like it then work will begin to fine-tune the Vantage before qualifying.
“We have two sessions today. Four hours of practice then two hours of night qualifying. The forecast for tomorrow is rain so I think everyone is going to be out early in qualifying to put in a banker lap so keep an eye on the timing screens from 10pm tonight!”
