DT reunited with his favourite Mini
Darren Turner was on track at Brands Hatch this weekend in Andy Hack's 1964 Austin Mini Cooper S, taking part in the Masters Historic Festival.
Darren and Andy took part in two races today: one just for Minis and one for saloon cars. DT took pole position for the Mini race and Andy took third on the grid for the saloon car race where they would go up against some much bigger cars.
In the Mini race Andy was running strongly in second when he pitted to hand over to Darren but unfortunately the car developed a fan belt problem and that was the end of that.
Darren started the saloon car race and almost managed to sneak into the lead before the big cars got going.
"I nearly got the jump on them," he said. "But once those big cars get going you can't catch them. I felt very little in a Mini, like I was having a David and Goliath moment!"
Unfortunately the same fan belt problem ended that race prematurely but not before Darren and Andy had had a lot of fun!
"That was great," said Darren. "I love racing that Mini. It's a shame we had two mechanical failures as we could've been on for two podiums. All the same though it was a top day and I would like to thank Andy for entrusting me with his pride and joy again."
